IRCCS Medea –
La Nostra Famiglia

IRCCS “Eugenio Medea” – La Nostra Famiglia (Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico “Eugenio Medea” – Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care) is a renowned pediatric neurorehabilitation institute officially recognized as an IRCCS in 1985. It specializes in neurological and neuropsychological conditions of childhood and adolescence, integrating clinical care, rehabilitation, research, and training to improve the quality of life of young patients and their families.

Within IMPROVE PRETERM, MEDEA combines clinical, ethical, and psychosocial expertise in neonatal follow-up and rehabilitation, with a strong focus on ethics and qualitative research. The institute’s 0–3 Center for the At-Risk Infant – where MEDEA’s contribution to the project is coordinated – focuses on understanding how clinical conditions, adverse early experiences, and relational environments influence socio-emotional development in infancy. The center leads research on the biological, psychological, and social factors shaping developmental outcomes for children born preterm, with a strong commitment to ethical practice and family-centered care.

MEDEA’s clinical and research contributions help deepen IMPROVE PRETERM’s understanding of early development and support the creation of evidence-based approaches for improving outcomes for very preterm children and their families.
