INESC TEC – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Tecnologia e Ciência (Institute for Systems Engineering and Computers, Technology and Science) is a private, non-profit research institute with Public Interest status, dedicated to scientific research, technological development, technology transfer, advanced consulting, and the incubation of new technology-based companies. Operating at the intersection of academia, industry, public administration, and society, INESC TEC transforms cutting-edge research into practical solutions with immediate social relevance. Its work spans four thematic domains: Computer Science, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Networked Intelligent Systems, and Power and Energy.
Within IMPROVE PRETERM, INESC TEC develops open-source digital tools for the RECAP Preterm data platform, bringing expertise in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and secure data processing. The team leads the expansion of the platform by integrating new studies and data sources, creating tools for data collection and harmonization, and designing privacy-preserving analysis and machine learning solutions. INESC TEC also contributes to long-term platform sustainability by updating variable classification and metadata models and defining a strategic roadmap for future development.
