The coordinator of the IMPROVE PRETERM project is Inserm, which is the acronym for “Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale” or the National Institute for Health and Medical Research. The team in charge of the project is the Obstetric, Perinatal and Pediatric Life Course Epidemiology (OPPaLE) team. Inserm is a French public organisation dedicated to biological, medical, and public health research. It operates research laboratories across the country, bringing together more than 15,000 researchers, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to improve population by advancing knowledge of living organisms and diseases, developing innovative treatments, and conducting public health research. OPPaLE is a joint research team affiliated with Inserm and with Université Paris-Cité (UPC). It is part of the Centre for Recherche in Epidemiology and Statistics (CRESS). The team’s research focuses on women’s health during pregnancy and its longer-term consequences, fetal, newborn and child health related to pregnancy, childbirth and early infancy, and population-based paediatric health in France and internationally.
